Filipino Community Camping - Doljo, Panglao Island
Hi, We’re Jonas and Dhora and we love the doljo community and where we live. We wake up every day by the sea and get to go fishing. We might row our small boat to the nearby Virgin Island to get fish, go squid boating in the evenings, or collect shellfish. Dhora has a small shop which sustains our living. She sells to various construction workers in the area who have realized that this beach is something special!
Homestay Description
You couldn’t get more beachside than this!! Let Jonas and Dhora pitch a tent for you under the 300 year old Talisay tree that the community uses as a meeting point. Watch the sunset over the peaceful ocean right next to your bedroom. Doljo beach is a long strip of white sand with a spectacular reef . Some pay megabucks to stay in the resorts in the area. But you’ll pay just 600P a night for a beachside tent! Bliss! Jonas and Dhora speak good English and are fun Filipinos, always up for a laugh and a drink or two under the Talisay tree. Don’t worry you will feel safe with Jonas sleeping right outside your tent (although there are never any problems in Doljo) this is laid back island living. Homestay Features

I was not supposed to stay with Dhora and Jonas in the first place. The homestay I booked was not available, Dhora waited for me at Sawang Port when I returned from Balicasag to help me transfer to Cabilao Island.
She is so sincere that I decided to stay at her place. It is a camping site!!! What a surprise! I have to admit that Dhora and Jonas’s house is not the best, compares with other families; but it is Dhora and Jonas makes the experience precious! I like both of them and enjoy my stay with them.
I was there on Feb. 13. I left my Lonely Planet to Jonas because I know I will come back. Oh! Don;t you worry, Jonas. I am back to meet you and Dhora, not get LP back. (i have booked my flight, see u this July.)
