Overview

The nightly rate for our homestay experience is 600P/night (around 10 Euro) for a double room. You choose and book your homestay online depositing 300P/night (50%). We accept paypal. This secures your accommodation via our online calendar system. We contact the homestay for you and let them know you are coming.

Once you have booked you will receive an email with detailed instructions of your meeting point with the homestay family. If you have any questions after booking do not hesitate to contact us. You will also receive the cellphone number of the family so that you can confirm what time you will meet them. When you arrive at the airport you will purchase a Philippines sim card (cost $1US) so you can communicate with the family. You will be greeted by your host family with smiles and hospitality – that’s the Filipino way!

Once you arrive at the house you will pay the remainder direct to the homestay (300 pesos/night). If you eat with the homestay you will pay them direct (50-100 pesos/meal). If your homestay owners take you anywhere we encourage you to donate to them for petrol. Some will allow you to rent motorbikes at a good rate from them. Try to let them know in advance if you would like to eat with the family.

Notes on Cost

  • We aim to help your tourism dollars trickle down to small Philippines communities who could do with the extra income. These are generally not people who use the internet and can add their property to a couchsurfer or homestay site, they are handpicked and you are guaranteed a genuine Philippines experience staying with these people.
  • We encourage you to spend part of your time in the homestay with the family. They will invite you to do simple things with them like cook a meal, go to their farm, share their life. In this sense you are not just paying for accommodation, but the experience that comes with it.
  • If you are after a single room then the price and booking fee are as above. If you are travelling in a group then use the website to book a couple of homestays in the same area. We like to limit the number of people per homestay to guarantee an authentic experience.
  • In our view staying with a family in the Philippines is the single best way to experience the culture of the Philippines. Embrace it and enjoy! If you have a really positive experience we encourage you to give your host family a good review, and if you feel inclined please pay them what you think the experience has been worth.
